Honoring Scholarship Awardees as we Sail Away for the evening.

The Scholarship Gala is NAB’s annual signature event. This year’s theme is Sail Away in recognition of The Bahamas 70 anniversary of Regatta Sailing—the national sport.

Regatta sailing first appeared on the scene in 1954 in Elizabeth Harbor Exuma with 70 sailors  competing for prize money on the same boats they used for their livelihood. This three-day event has grown in nature and scope throughout The Bahamas. What started as a way to preserve boat building skills now draws sailors from around the country to compete in different classes. In addition to  being a competition, it’s a party and the preservation of history in one.

During this black-tie celebration, NAB will award six scholarships to deserving students from the Bahamian community.
